Althoughthe requirements of the Community Card are simple to comply with, it is a process that is not exempt from problems.

1. NOT HAVE HEALTH INSURANCE

If you lack health insurance, your Community Card will be denied. It is mandatory to have health insurance, whether public or private, that covers the health needs in our country.

If you opt for private health insurance, it must cover the same basic needs as public health care. Therefore, they would not be worth insurance with copay, or with waiting periods.

2. NOT PROVING SUFFICIENT FINANCIAL MEANS

To avoid denial of the community card, the person must be employed or self-employed, or be a student and make a responsible declaration of availability of economic means, or justify the existence of their own economic means through any means of proof. admissible.

In case of not accrediting the existence of sufficient financial means, it is most likely that the Community Card application will be denied.

3. DO NOT PROVE THE LINK OF RELATIONSHIP

If family status cannot be proven because the documentation is not legalized, is not correct, is expired, or there is no such relationship; the community card will be denied.

There are many cases of false common-law couples or false marriages, which are investigated by immigration offices in search of this fraud. This is a highly inadvisable practice, as it can be considered a crime.

4. CRIMINAL RECORD

A Community Card is not denied in itself just because of having a criminal record. It is possible to obtain the Community Card even if you have penalties. However, they can deny it for being a danger to public order, public health or public security.

This can happen if you have been arrested repeatedly and have not served time. In addition, if you have a serious criminal record, these can be a reason for denial for many immigration procedures.

5. NOT BEING REGISTERED WITH THE COMMUNITY CITIZEN

This happens in cases where a Spanish citizen requests a Community Card for his mother or for his wife, but the Spanish citizen at that time does not reside in Spain. In these circumstances, you will not have the right to apply for the Community Card, since your family member must reside with him, so it is necessary to justify that they live together in Spain and that they are registered at the same address.

6. FAILURE TO PROVE LIVING IN CHARGE OF THE COMMUNITY FAMILY MEMBER

It is also common to see Community Cards denied for not accrediting the fact of living in charge of the community relative in the cases of ascendants or children over 21 years of age or relatives, what we call «extended family». In these cases, it is necessary to justify that you live in the care of the family member of the European Union citizen. It is necessary to prove that the money transfers are made regularly or frequently before entering Spain, that is, before you meet your family member in Spain.
